COURSE AIM

This NOCN-accredited short course teaches how to install 3 different types of solar panels on roofs. This course covers solar energy and its benefits, how solar panels work, safe working with solar panels, including working at height, handling panels, and electrical safety, communication with customers, practical skills for solar panel installations on roofs for both retrofit panels and in-roof systems, working to manufacturers’ instructions, and safe working with electricity, including isolating systems, and leaving cables in the correct condition for electricians to complete the installation. You will also learn about connectors, optimisers and how to check each panel with a multi-meter.

It is assessed through a practical observation followed by a question-and-answer session. Learners must install panels in a simulated environment and then answer questions on aspects of customer service and installation.
