Course Aim
This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides learners with greater awareness of workplace risks and the measures that can be taken to control them.
Who Should Attend?
This qualification is ideal as an introduction to risk assessment for anyone in the workplace. While employees might not undertake risk assessments themselves, this qualification will make them more risk-aware and improve their understanding of risk assessments.
Overview
Understand why risk assessments are necessary for maintaining and improving standards of health and safety at work:
- State the main causes of work-related fatalities, injuries and ill health
- Identify the moral, legal and economic reasons for preventing accidents and ill health at work
- Recognise the definitions of key terms associated with risk assessment in the context of health and safety at work
- Identify the role of risk assessment in accident and ill health prevention
Understand the principles of risk assessment:
- Recognise the legal requirements for risk assessment
- Identify a simple process for undertaking a risk assessment
- Recognise examples of occupational, environmental and human factors that can affect the level of risk from hazards at work
- Identify a method that can be used to prioritise risks
- Identify the requirements for providing information about, and records on, the results of a risk assessment
