Who Should Complete the Level 2 NVQ in Roof Slate & Tiling?

The NVQ Level 2 in Roof Slate & Tiling is designed for any person or employee that is currently working as a Slate & Tiler and requires a nationally recognised qualification in this occupation. The NVQ Level 2 is also for those looking to gain their CSCS Blue Skilled Card.

QCF 272 – Installing Roofing Backgrounds and Components in the Workplace
QCF 273 – Installing Pre-Formed Weathering Flashings to Roof in the Workplace
QCF 274 – Installing Single-Lap Roof Coverings to a Variable Gauge in the Workplace
QCF 275 – Installing Plain Tile Roof Coverings in the Workplace
QCF 276 – Installing Regular-Sized Natural Roof Slate to Standard Roof Details in the Workplace.

Method of Assessment

The Level 2 NVQ is assessed on-site. These on-site assessments are not disruptive to your day to work, the assessor will observe and record your day to day tasks. Evidence is collected through video, photographs, professional discussions, RAMs, Site Specifications, Training Records and Knowledge questions.

Duration

On average, it can take candidates anywhere between 2-4 months to complete their Level 2 NVQ. The duration is very much dependent on the quality of evidence that the assessor can collect on each visit.

Funding

A CITB grant of £240 is available to companies registered with the Construction Industry Training Board (reduced from £600, as of September 2025)
