3 Eastern Roof Apprentices to Enter CITB SkillBuild Competition

We were delighted to recently be confirmed as hosting one of the Skill Build 2019 heats, here at Eastern Roof Training, and are pleased to now announce the 3 Roofing Apprentices from Eastern Roof Training that will be entering this years competition.

This years competitors from Eastern Roof Training are Harrison Netzel from Scofield & Lait Roofing and Phil Houghton & Tyler Pedrick from Avonside Roofing (Braintree). Each of the boys has showed fantastic potential during their time with us on their apprenticeship and are fully deserving of their nomination. We wish each of them the best of luck for the competition and are sure they will do both themselves and their respective companies proud.

Skill Build 2019 is going to be held from Birmingham’s NEC again this year for the largest UK multi-trade competition for construction trainees and apprentices. Forming part of WorldSkills, SkillBuild is the largest multi-trade competition in the UK for construction trainees and apprentices, allowing them to compete in their chosen field, from roof slating to carpentry, stonemasonry to plastering.

Heats for the Roof Slating and Tiling competitors will take place at six hubs across the UK (including Eastern Roof Training). Finalists will be chosen from the winners of each heat. Each competitor will undertake a specific project and demonstrate time management, commitment and technical ability. They will need to show accurate interpretation of drawings as well as cutting, pointing and application techniques – using the appropriate PPE to safely create a secure structure, free from defects.
